Hi @mark-shadow

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're dealing with a challenging situation, but don't worry—we can work through this together. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Verify the New SSD Installation

  1. Ensure the new SSD is properly seated in its slot or connected securely to the SATA or NVMe port.
  2. Double-check the connections to ensure there are no loose cables or improper alignments.

Step 2: Access the BIOS

  1. Turn on your laptop and press Esc or F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup.
  2. Check if the new SSD is detected under the Storage or Boot Options section.
  3. If the SSD is not detected, try reseating it or testing it in another device to confirm it is functional.

Step 3: Create a Bootable USB Drive

  1. On another computer, visit the Microsoft Windows 11 Download page.
  2. Download the Media Creation Tool and create a bootable USB drive with Windows 11 installation files.
  3. Insert the USB drive into your HP laptop and boot from it by pressing F9 during startup to access the boot menu.

Step 4: Install Windows on the New SSD

  1. Select the bootable USB drive from the boot menu and follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows.
  2. During the installation process, select the new SSD as the target drive.
  3. If prompted, format the SSD to ensure it is ready for installation.

Step 5: Update Drivers and Firmware

  1. After successfully installing Windows, visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model.
  2. Download and install the latest drivers, including chipset and storage drivers, to ensure optimal performance.

Step 6: Run Diagnostics

  1. Turn on your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to access the Startup Menu.
  2. Select F2 to run System Diagnostics and perform a storage test to verify the health of the new SSD.

Let me know how it goes or if you need further guidance! 😊
