I lost my pswd for my BIOS in my HP 15-dw3000(1A3X9AV) laptop. now what?

Unfortunately, for problem with passwords you will need to contact an HP agent.
Sign in to your support page
Select the product you need help with and scroll down to support options.
Select "Contact us". You can change country and language if necessary.

Here is HP's official policy regarding BIOS passwords:
HP Business PCs - Forgotten or lost BIOS password | HP® Support

According to the Community's Rules of Participation:

4d. No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to bypass or subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to bypass any safety measures.

For cases related to BitLocker issues, please contact Microsoft Support.

thx for responding. too bad all the HP people could suggest taking to to a certified service agent or replacing the motherboard. cost makes this impractical until I absolutely need to boot from usb or some such disaster. 

I told them my next computer will be a Dell. I understand that Dell has a similar issue. but spite can be a powerful motivator.
