Hi @jodipl,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Chromebook is stuck in airplane mode, and the toggle switch is greyed out, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Restart your Chromebook: Sometimes a simple restart can fix the issue. Press and hold the power button until your Chromebook turns off. Then, press the power button again to turn it back on.
- Check for updates: Make sure your Chromebook is up-to-date with the latest updates. To check for updates, click on the status area in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and then click on the gear icon to open the settings menu. From there, click on "About Chrome OS" and then click on "Check for updates."
- Reset your network settings: Go to the settings menu, and click on "Internet connection." Then, click on the three-dot icon in the top-right corner and select "Reset settings."
- Check your hardware: Make sure that your Chromebook's hardware is working properly. If you have an external switch for turning on/off airplane mode, check that it is not stuck or damaged.
- Powerwash your Chromebook: As a last resort, you can try power-washing your Chromebook. This will erase all of your data and restore your Chromebook to its factory settings. To powerwash your Chromebook, go to the settings menu, click on "Advanced," and then click on "Powerwash."
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
