pavilion dv6 6099el
Linux

Hi, I have a problem with my old but very good and fast pavilion dv6 6099el: I don't find in the BIOS the choice to boot from usb.

Do I have to upgrade the BIOS? I never have done it before.. I have to reinstall win 10 with usb.

BIOS version  F.1B

released on 10/05/2011

Many thanks for your cooperation.

First off, you claim to be running Linux and HP does not provide Linux support -- so you are on your own for that.

Second, to get into the BIOS Boot Devices menu, press F9 repeatedly while rebooting.  If the USB stick is not shown in that menu, you will not be able to boot from it.

Thank you for your answer.

How can I know if HP bios refresh contains the choice for boot from usb?

I have no idea what you are talking about with regard to "BIOS refresh".

I already told you about the Boot Devices menu.  If you have a USB stick inserted and boot into that menu, if your PC supports booting from the USB stick, that will be listed in the menu.
