Hi @Enbakom

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It seems like you're facing two challenges: a broken power button and the absence of the Wake-on-LAN (WoL) feature.

Let me address both:

1. Broken Power Button:

  • External Power Button Replacement: If the power button is physically damaged, you may need to replace it. You can contact HP Support or a local technician for assistance.
  • Alternative Power-On Methods:
    • Some laptops can be powered on by connecting the charger. Check if this works for your model.
    • If your laptop supports it, you might be able to use the Wake-on-LAN feature (see below).

2. Wake-on-LAN (WoL) Feature:

  • Check BIOS Settings:
    • Restart your laptop and press F10 (or Esc) during startup to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
    • Look for a "Power Management" or "Advanced" tab and check if Wake-on-LAN is listed. If it's disabled, enable it.
  • Enable WoL in Windows:
    • Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select it).
    • Expand Network Adapters, right-click on your Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapter, and select Properties.
    • Go to the Power Management tab and enable options like "Allow this device to wake the computer."
    • In the Advanced tab, enable "Wake on Magic Packet" or similar settings.
  • Update Drivers:
    • Visit the HP Support page for your laptop and download the latest network drivers.
  • Limitations:
    • If you don't see WoL options in the BIOS or Device Manager, your laptop might not support this feature. Some HP models lack WoL functionality.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
