EliteBook Workstation 8560w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought an HP EliteBook Workstation 8560w from an online store.

When I turn it on, I immediately get the following message:

"Warning!! Machine is not in committed state!"

Other than that, it seems to work just fine.

I read here that it has to do with branding and can be fixed in BIOS.

Thing is, I am not too Savvy and would like to know whether this is technically

a big problem / an immediate problem / a problem for the long run / not much of a problem.

Thanks,

Sarig Levin

Hello @SarigLevin

Ahoj !

This happens because the motherboard has been replaced and certain procedures have not been completed.

For most people and especially for a second hand device this, this should not be a big problem.

You may contact an authorized local service center in your region to see if they can help you fix it for this device (considering device's age). Here is how >> https://www8.hp.com/cz/cs/business-sluzby/it-sluzby/podpora/servisni-stredisko.html

Thanks for the advice 🙂

So, what you're saying, if I got it right, is that this error message is not an indication of something that might manifest into a problem for me in the future, right?

I mean, that this 'branding' thing is not really necessary for the smooth functioning of this device.

And thanks again for your rapid reply.

Hi @SarigLevin

You are most welcome !

What you call "branding" is needed for several things but this message is not a hardware problem. The hardware will continue to work. Here is more information >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/quot-Warning-Machine-is-not-in-committed-stat...

So, you reckon it might be advisable for me to turn Secure Boot back to "Enabled" in the Secure Boot Options in the BIOS?
