Hello,
when I turn on my laptop, fan starts for a couple of seconds, then stops and white caps lock led starts to slowly and regularly blink. Only slow and regular blinks, no cycle can be observed, no fast blinking appears. Screen remains black.
To be more detailed, this happened after two events that may be related:
1) important updates (red alert) missed to be installed as I wasn't able to wait for the installation process when the alert appeared
2) laptop was connected to train's power supply, this suddenly turned off (sometimes it happens when train stops at a station) and, since my battery is old and can sustain work for few minutes without supply, I was expecting the laptop to shut down. It actually happened but I could observe a fast blue screen saying something about "latop locking" in white, then it turned off.
More details:
- Laptop is old but years ago I managed to change hard disk with an ssd, giving it a new life a part from the battery.
- Often I use it to train deep learning models using the gpu and temperature often rises a lot.
I can't see anything on the web regarding the way led is blinking. Any idea?
Solution
I managed to solve by myself, the internet said it was a cpu issue but, at least in my case, I just needed my device to stay in charge for several minutes before attempting to turm it on. The battery was completely drained as, I already mentioned, it's very old and stayed with no supply for several minutes, and somehow the device was not able to properly understand that.
