hp pavilion g6-1d40ca
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I have a hp pavilion g6-1d40ca laptop updated to windows 10 64bit and bios version F.46. I tried to install a Samsung 860 EVO SSD and get (disk read error occured) on boot up. I have gone into bios to try and change config settings from legacy to UEFI but can't find that option in the F.46 version. I tried to download version F.48 from HP, but it stops at 94%. The operating system choices only listed Win7 and 8, so that might be the reason as I have updated to Win10. I have discovered that if you press f10 and then "A" before entering bios menu screen that it will add and "advanced settings" tab to the menu bar. Does anyone know if changing any settings in the advanced screen will allow the SSD to boot up, or are there any other options for getting this SSD to work. Thanks

DJ

@Island_pc Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to install the SSD.

I have checked the manual.

Your product will not support SSD.

This model does not test for windows 10 operating systems. Please refer to the following link.

There are no proper drivers for windows 10 operating systems.

HP has locked a few settings on your computer which are being managed by the system configuration as the device is configured to its optimal performance.

There's no way of resetting or changing these locked settings via HP articles or assistance,

You could unlock and make changes at your own discretion using 3rd party tools, however, HP doesn't recommend the same nor has information about the tools used.

I hope you understand.
