Hi,

Here you can create a recovery USB drive for your machine using HP cloud recovery (on different PC)

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205

You can also perform a clean install by creating a bootable USB drive with the media creation tool from Microsoft. There is an explanation on webpage on how to create the drive.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

and let it completely update and find all the necessary drivers.

First you should run HP diagnostics at boot. You can perform a system test or at least the drive test.

Turn off the PC by holding the power button. Turn on PC and repeatedly keep pressing ESC until the startup menu appears and then press F2 to enter diagnostics. Try the fast test, or at least the hard drive test.

See if there are any hardware errors.

Hope it helps,

David

After your advice I downloaded the recovery software but it would not load so I ran a full test as you suggested and it must have cleared  something and I was able to do a full recovery although I lost  my files but I had managed to backup some before the crash. I must say that I had just had an update from windows again

Thanks for your help
