Hi:

 

Officially the maximum memory you can install is 2 x 4 GB, as indicated in chapter 1 of the service manual.

Some people have installed 2 x 8 GB of memory, but there is a problem as you can see in this discussion.

 

Solved: Performance degrades in Probook 4540s after memory upgrade - HP Support Community - 2268503
