My laptop battery had drained and then I went on holiday and since being home it displays either "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" or "0% available (plugged in, charging)". Both times it isn't actually charging. As soon as the AC adapter is unplugged the device shuts down due to it being out of charge.
I have been reading many solutions online and none have seemed to work like uninstalling Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method battery and rebooting the computer- I've tried this several times with and without the battery in and neither attempts have proven successful.
The AC adapter is working fine as the laptop boots up without a battery with just the cable perfectly well.
Does anybody have any solutions for me to be able to charge my battery?

Same issue here. HP ENVY 15. Battery is 2 years old, so I would expect it not be completely dead. Degraded yes, but not DOA.
Tried refreshing the BIOS doing the Windows+B+Power, but it did not help. I'm guessing that my only other option is to buy a new battery. I'm guessing this is not an isolated incident, because I've seen many post for this model online with the same issue. I will update when I replace the battery.
