Hi All!
I would like to upgrade the 512 GB SSD of my Elitebook 850 G5 with a 1 TB SSD and I have some questions.
Is there space in the notebook to add a new disk or should I change the old one?
Which SSD should I buy? I really don't understand NVMe and other terms...
And if I must switch the disk, how can I transfer data from the old one to the new?
Thanks a lot and excuse me for my poor englsh (I'm writing from Italy).
Thanks in advance
Davide

Hi, I currently have the same "question" and did a research on that. The "Maintenance and Service Guide" from here https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-elitebook-850-g5-notebook-pc/18491276/manuals do not mention a option to install a 2nd HD so I think thats not an option and the SSD inside the device needs to be replaced.
Furthermore the HD drive interface used here is M.2 (instead SATA). That´s due to the size from the device, with an SATA slot the device wouldn't be so flat. You can find some upgrade tips for the HP Elitebook 850 G5 here, if you need a HD type which is known to be working.
To move the old content to a new SSD I think a M.2 USB adapter is needed. Then you need to put the new disk into the adapter connect it to the PC and run some migration software like Macrium Reflect Free. I personally would replace the HD, install a fresh new Windows 10 OS and then install and run the "HP Support Assistent" which automatically would find all required and missing drivers and would install that on the fresh OS.
