Hi again. I hope you are still able to help me with the problem I’m having with my second laptop. I replaced the internal hard drive as when I opened up the laptop there was no SATA connection there for a SSD. I replaced it with a similar hard drive that was inside the laptop. I reinstalled windows 10 from a USB and everything  has worked great for a week. Windows loading fine, computer working great. Then this morning it’s

back to the old problem of “Windows did not load correctly” error. I tried automatic repair and it failed. Now I’m trying to reset the computer. Do you have any idea what’s happening? On the diagnostic tests all that came up was that the hard drive was about to go but replacing the hard drive hasn’t worked. Thank you.

The connection for a SATA hard drive and a 2.5 inch SATA SSD are the same so I am confused what you found in there when you opened it up. You should be able to replace a SATA HDD with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD using the same connection and mounting hardware.

Oh right! I thought the SSD needed to go into a dedicated slot (M2 slot is it?) I didn’t  know you could get one the same size as the hard disc to fit in the slot. Sorry I’m confusing myself now. So if i  get rid of the hard disc (2.5inch one) I just put in I can fit an SSD into that same slot and it should be ok? I managed to restore the laplop to a few days ago and it is working fine now. Strange how it does for a bit. I ran the diagnostics again and it passed all the tests. Is the hard disc still not compatible even after working for a few days and passing tests? I just don’t want to go buy a SSD and for the same issues to happen with that. Thank you.

If the hard drive is working I would leave well enough alone. Just know if something goes out again you can replace it with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.
