Hp Omen 17-W003dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello Again 😄

My questions are rather simple and had recieved many answers so trying to get a detailed answer from the experts at hp 😄

i bought Omen 17 and a local retailer gave me a 120w charger with it which i came to know since my model has a gtx 965m so the charger it supported was 150w

my general questions are as follows:-

1.  isit necessary to make change from 120w to 150w?

2. what benefit would i get from making this change?

3. what harm could the 120w charger do to my laptop

4. i have been using the same charger for the last month during gaming and other tasks so is the damage already done?

will appreciate if all the answers are focused seperately

Always appreciated the help from HP 😄

Hi,

As we can see on page 5 of the service manual the 120 W ac power supply is sufficient for your PC. Both the 120W and 150W power supply will work with your system. The 120 W power supply might heat up slightly more while gaming (when the system requires more power), however will not harm the PC in any way.

Hope it helps,

David

On this forum it takes a while to see the pictures posted, so I will see later.

The power supply will not make your PC hotter or cooler. When I talk about heat, I am talking about the temperature of the power supply (the ac adapter). There will also be no gain in performance as the 120W is supplying sufficient power to your system.

Hope it helps,

David
