The cursor stutters across the screen until it freezes up. During the stuttering phases, it may activate submenus.
No obvious signs of damage.
Cleaning, tapping, refreshing, restarting, power washing does not cure.
Over past year, in about 6 cases, replacing cable corrected the issue. Cables in these cases were clearly twisted/pinched.
We currently have 6 units of this model on repair bench with same issue. We have previously found the only repair is to replace the trackpad. We have replaced over 50 so far ( I just completed replacement of 20 over last month).
Why are these trackpads failing when other models are not? We have 14-g4's, g5's, g6's and g8's. Only the g5's are failing and we still have 2 years until Chrome end of life.
