HP Pavilion 14ce0068st
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello,

I have a 14ce0068st 14 inch laptop. I would like to understand my options regarding (a) upgrading the RAM and (b) replacing the existing hard drive with an SSD.

I realize that item (b) has been talked before but dates back from 2017. I am wondering if some one can point me towards 'current' recommended procedures and hardware.

I should admit that I have never opened a laptop before.

Thank yo u!

Here is the pertinent service Manual:

Manual

Opening instructions begin on p. 51. Once you get the rear cover off this is what you see:

RAM = red M.2 = greenRAM = red M.2 = green

You have a single memory slot so since you already have a single eight gb module your only upgrade is a single 16 gig module. DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM as so:

You can install an NVME M.2 SSD as so:

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Thank you ! This definitely helps me.

Just so I do understand, does the process involve: (a) cloning the new SSD hard drive via a USB connector, (b) replacing the existing hard drive with the new one, and (c) then booting  from the new hard drive ?

Are there any tips/suggestion/known common errors ?

You PM'ed me that you bought an SSD. What did you get exactly? Is it your intent to keep the hard drive but boot and run the OS from the M.2 SSD?

Hello ,

My intention is to replace the existing hard drive with the SSD..

Also, I am getting a Samsung 970 EVO plus M.2 NVMe.

Thanks !

You do not have to do that. There is room for both inside the laptop. If you want to clone the hard drive to SSD, the SSD needs to be at least as big as the amount of data on the hard drive. I use Macrium Reflect Free. You can do the clone from HDD to SSD just using the laptop....no external adapter needed.
