Hello, everyone.

I have been having a problem with my laptop ever since my brother replaced my old battery with one from a third-party a month ago since the old battery couldn't hold a charge anymore. Just to be clear, my mom bought me this laptop back in 2018 or 2019 (I can't quite remember) so I could use it when I was in college. My laptop has been randomly shutting down ever since the battery was replaced. At first, I thought that the CMOS battery needed to be replaced only to find out that my model doesn't have one and keeps its date and time information through the primary battery. I ran the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool quick test two hours ago and it said that the replacement battery is working properly. I also ran the component test on the AC adapter and it's working as intended. I am currently thinking that it might be the RAM that could be causing the problem. I've been trying to run the Windows Memory Diagnostic app, but my laptop keeps shutting down through the second part of the test. I don't want to run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool extensive test as I fear that my laptop will just decide to shut down during that test.

I'm honestly not sure what to do at this point. I don't have enough money to go out and purchase a new laptop, and I know that my mom probably wouldn't want to buy a new one anyway. Any help from experts and the rest of the community would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have an update on the situation. I looked at the device manager and I noticed that the system firmware had error code 10 (this device cannot start). I tried to update the driver by letting Windows search my laptop for the most up-to-date driver, but it says that the current one (version 15.58.0.0, date of 4/6/22, and install date of 8/13/22) is the most recent driver, which I know is not true. I did manage to find a website that offers the download of these types of drivers (https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=HP+Inc.+Firmware), but I wanted to make sure that this is official, and if so, should I update this driver to hopefully fix my problem once and for all?
