Device manager failing to recognize the following devices after upgrade to W11: (all devices recognized when using W10)

2-PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controllers

1-PCI simple communications controller

1- unknown device

I have attempted using both HP, and Intel support assistants to identify the proper drivers needed with no luck.

Overall functionality hasn't been diminished but, while performing hardware diagnostics i noticed the following: My battery does not report any discharge information and will only charge when off. Also, audio recording test was cancelled immediately upon first attempt. Not sure exactly what the devices in question control or if these are related at all, just my casual observation. Obviously, an easy solution is to go back to W10 but i prefer the learning opportunity if there is indeed a solution. Thanks in advance

Hi:

You need two drivers to install the 2 PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controllers and possibly the unknown device will install with one of these as well.

First install the Intel chipset installation utility and restart the notebook

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp101001-101500/sp101171.exe

Then install the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp95001-95500/sp95216.exe

Normally the PCI simple communications controller is installed by the Intel Management Engine Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp136001-136500/sp136281.exe

If this does not install all 3 drivers, please post the hardware ID for any of the remaining devices that still need drivers.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device...

Unfortunately, I would not be able to help you with any of the other issues you are experiencing.

I am doubtful that the missing drivers will solve those issues.

Thanks for the help Paul.  I did what you recommended and the PCI simple
communications controller came back online in device manager.
The others remain as they were. Here are the hardware ids of each device.

You're very welcome.

The drivers I gave you should have installed both of the PCI Data and Signal Processing Controllers

Try manually installing the drivers by going to each of those devices in the device manager one at a time.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folders that were created when you ran the drivers.

Since I have no idea which driver actually installs which PCI Data and Signal Processing Controller, browse to both files.

The files will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp101177 and C:\SWSetup\sp95216.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, and see if the drivers install that way.

You can also try this driver for either one of those PCI Data and Signal Processing Controller if manually installing both of them doesn't work.
