I would like to upgrade the RAM in my laptop from 8 to 16GB. Is this possible?

When I use task manager, it reports that I only have one RAM slot. But if I look on the Crucial website, it says the 14a-fq000 has two slots.

I looked in the service manual but I'm confused.

If I open a command prompt with admin priv and type the command:

wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx

It reports:

MaxCapacityEx
33554432

which is 32GB supposedly the maximum RAM the motherboard can handle.

If I only have 1 slot, can I replace my 8GB SODIMM with a 16GB one?

Hi:

You should be able to.

The 32 Gig report would be with 2 memory slots.

What model processor does your notebook have?

The service manual shows the model series comes with Ryzen, Athlon and the AMD 3020e processors.

This would be a compatible 16 GB DDR4 memory chip to experiment with.
