Hi,

I haven’t used my laptop for a while and noticed the temperature was extremely high, roughly 80°/86° at highest, so I decided to replace the thermal paste but it the process of doing so I noticed a kink in the heatsink that I assume is the culprit of the high temps as even after changing the thermal paste they were still in the high 70s - low 80s. I’ve looked almost everywhere and can not find any info on the heatsink or the second fan for the empty space to the left of the one that comes included with the laptop.

does anyone know where I can find a replacement and a second fan? And provide a link if you are able!

thank you in advance!

By "heatsink" are you talking about the top surface of the processor where the thermal past goes and the fan contacts?

If so, that is called the "lid" and they are an integral part of the processor and not sold separately -- which is why you can't find any.  And even if you could, removing and replacing them is a highly specialized task requiring specialized equipment.

I’m fairly certain it is the heatsink.. it is held down on top of the cpu with four screws on each corner. In a desktop they are much larger and usually have a fan on? I just can’t find one that will fit in my laptop.

OK, so you're not talking about the CPU lid -- but I have no idea where you can get that part.

Try using this HP tool to see if you can get a part number and search online for that:  HP PartSurfer

Good Luck
