HP 15-db0003ca Laptop, AMD Ryzen 3 2200U
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I'm pretty desktop savyy, but have never done a laptop upgrade. I just got this laptop from Costco (canada).

HP 15-db0003ca Laptop, AMD Ryzen 3 2200U

It comes with 8GB of ram, and it's very slow, so I was trying to see if I could upgrade it. From some websites, I can see that it's possible to add another 8GB on the second slot, but after checking the user manual, it doesn't seem possible. What does it mean when it says "Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable" ? It does say it can accept 2x8GB.

Two memory module slots (Ryzen, A9 processors):
Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable   (<<< ???)
DDR4-2400 dual channel support (Ryzen processors)
DDR4-1866 dual channel support (A9 processors)
Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations
● 16384 MB (8192 MB×2)
● 12288 MB (8192 MB×1 + 4096 MB×1)
● 8192 MB (8192 MB×1 + 4096×2)
● 4096 MB (4096 MB×1)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

"Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable"

Just means you need to remove the Base Cover/Enclosure to access the memory.

Since you already have the manual then you know Memory Remove/Replace starts on page 40.

I will see if there are videos for your model.

Can someone point me to where I can find the manual referenced above?

All I get is a 404 error when I try to access that page.
