Reading the specs it is not clear if the laptop can be upgraded in term of ram,

I believe that the memory can be upgraded.
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates it cannot.
But chapters 3 and 5 let us know it can.
If the memory was an integral part of the motherboard, the parts list in chapter 3 would have had motherboard part numbers listed with different amounts of onboard system memory (8 GB, 16 GB).
Chapter 5 has a memory removal and replacement procedure and as you can see from the illustration, the memory is hidden under a metal shield.
