15-ef2127wm ram upgrade

I picked up one of these Ryzen 5500U laptops and wanted to add more memory. Looked on product page for max memory but it's not listed. I ordered a single 16GB stick of G.Skill  F4-3200C22S-16GRS, tried to install it but laptop would not POST. Plan was to get another module down the road, but for now would use 1 4GB module that it came with, and the new G.Skill module. Timings are the same for both the OEM Samsung 4GB modules and the new G.Skill module. Will try  the G.Skill by itself later today to see if it works in single channel. 

Anyone have experience with this module and can shed some light on the subject?

if the module works alone, so much the better
but it is indicated to support max 8gb per slot
