Hello, I have a 15-f233wm Notebook which has been shutting off without warning at around 35-45% battery. I used to receive notifications when the battery was close to dying, but now the screen just goes black when there is still battery left as if it is at 0%. I have run a diagnostic test via HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows, as well as a battery check via HP Support Assistant, and the results stated that the battery was OK. I have also considered the fan being a problem, given that it used to be quite noisy and is now pretty much silent. I cannot open the back of the Notebook to clean the fan and do not have any compressed air. Would compressed air fix my problem? Does the fan need replacing? If it does need to be replaced, where can I get a replacement and have it installed?

@15_L First of all, start by hitting they WIN + R combination to launch the Run utility.
Now, type in sysdm.cpl and then hit Enter to launch System Properties. Next, click on the tab called Advanced and under the section labeled as Startup and Recovery, click on the button that says Settings.
A new pop-up window will now open. Under the section called System failure, un-check the option labeled as Automatically restart.
Now, click on OK then on Apply and then again on OK.
Reboot your computer now for the changes to take an effect.
This should provide an error message or code before the laptop restarts once the above steps are done,
please capture the error code/message on the blue screen and send us a picture for an accurate solution.
And for the fan noise: click here for steps.
P.S: Welcome to HP Community 😉

Hello, thank you for replying! I completed the steps, however I did not get an error message after rebooting. I would also like to note that there was no Apply option after pressing OK when I unchecked the the option labeled as Automatically restart. Additionally, my notebook shut off a few minutes after rebooting although the battery was at around 50%.

@15_L I appreciate the details, please check if the device turns off while you are in the BIOS screen by tapping F10 to enter it, also if it works fine on it or you do not wish to stay on BIOS for a long time, I recommend performing an extensive hardware test:
Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
- Click Extensive Test.
- Click Run once, or Loop until error.
- While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.
If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.
