My HP envy is 15 months old. The last week or so it has been overheating and the fan is on constantly, sometimes louder than others. The battery is not lasting anytime at all (maybe because the fan is having to work so hard) and the temperature in the area between the start button and the Bang and Olufsen sign is between 48 and 49 degress C.
I do not run any games on this pc only use it to view emails, browse the web and use Excel and Word.
I cannot find anyway to contact HP by phone or email without paying and HP says my warranty has run out, although I am sure when I purchased it from HP they were offering a 2 year warranty, which is why I bought it from them and not John Lewis.
I have run HP diagnostics and it passed all the tests.
The air vents look clear and I have given them a vacuum just in case.
If anyone has any solution for this I would be most grateful.

Hello, @Janee11
I would further recommend you to test and calibrate the battery using the HP PC diagnostics UEFI.
Go to http://hp.care/2cMZFxJ and perform the tests under “Testing and calibrating the battery using HP PC Diagnostics UEFI (preferred method)”. Make sure to do the test for both battery and the adapter.
1) Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2) Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc to get the Startup menu. Now press F2 key.
3) The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu is displayed.
4) Select the "Component test" and then select "Battery test" from the list. Also, perform a test for the adapter.
5) Let me know if the test passes or not.
If the test passes, perform a battery calibration as well as mentioned under “Manually Calibrating the battery” and check for the issue resolution.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂

Thanks for reaching out! I'd like to help 🙂
I understand that the notebook is heating up. Appreciate all your efforts in troubleshooting the issue!
Did you try updating the printer BIOS? This has helped fix similar issues. Go to http://hp.care/2swX6tu to download and update the BIOS. Restart the notebook once done and check.
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
Good luck 🙂

Hello DVortex,
I did manage to find a printer bios to update via another pathway and have now done so. It has improved it a bit with the temperature coming down to about 45-46 degrees c and the fan is not running all the time now. However the battery is still running out really quickly. For instance I charged it last night before turning it off. I turned it on this morning and it was down to 95% then after about 10-15 just checking post and a bit of news it was down to 75%. I fully charged it again before I went out and turned it off (not sleep) and have just returned to find it at 85%.
My model number is HP Envy 13-d008na (energy star).
Thanks,
Janee11

Hello DVortex,
I have now calibrated the battery, that along with the bios update seems to have done the trick. Fan is not going all the time, the temperature has come down and the battery seems to be lasting longer, time will tell, but I am quite hopeful.
Thank you for your help.
