Hello everyone, I have an HP laptop 15s-eq3001ni with a Ryzen 5 processor. It currently has a 500 GB SSD, and I’d like to upgrade it to 2 TB. Can anyone tell me what type of SSD it uses, and what’s the best way to clone the drive without losing my files and system configuration?

Hi:
Your notebook has a M.2 2280 Gen 3x4 NVMe SSD.
You should be able to install a SSD up to 4 TB in your notebook as long as the drive is single-sided so that it fits in the slot.
Samsung only has Gen 4x4 SSDs for sale and they will work fine but will not run at their maximum advertised read/write speeds from the Gen 3 slot.
In order to clone the drive, you will have to buy a USB3/USB-C to NVMe SSD enclosure, plug the drive into the enclosure and use cloning software to clone the existing drive's configuration to the new drive.
Since you have to clone a smaller drive to a larger one you have to make sure that the cloning software does that automatically or has an option for you to set the parameters.
Some drive such as Samsung offer free cloning software and there is some free trial software such as Macrium Reflect you can use.
