15s-fq1105nq
Linux

Hello all,

I just bought a 15s-fq1105nq.

I want to know what's the max amount and type of RAM that I can add to the 8GB it has out of the box:

1- max amount of RAM supported,

2- max RAM transfer speed supported (in MT/s or MHz)

3- number of RAM slots on the motherboard

I checked the 2 Maintenance and Service Guides on the HP 15 family here: https://support.hp.com/ro-en/product/hp-15-f1000-laptop-pc-series/29322771/model/38753484/manuals?sk...

None of them lists my particular model, and that's something that the HP support team might want to fix.

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

Below is the link to the crucial memory report for a similar notebook to yours which has the Intel® Core™ i3-1005G1 processor.

Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | hp - compaq | hp 15s-fq1xxx series | HP 15s-fq1107tu | Crucial.com

According to the report, it has two memory slots and each slot can support a max of 16 GB of memory.

The specs for your notebook indicate the supported memory is 2666 MHz.

HP Notebook 15s-fq1105nq Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

Intel indicates the max memory speed for your notebook's processor is 3200 MHz.

Intel® Core™ i7-1065G7 Processor (8M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz) Product Specifications

However, I believe your notebook's motherboard is only going to run the memory at 2666 MHz since that is what HP indicates the specification is.

You may want to buy a 3200 MHz memory chip and see if it runs at 3200 MHz.

You would need to install it without the 2666 MHz memory chip installed.

The worst case scenario is the memory runs at what HP indicates it will run at...2666 MHz.

I agree with you...neither of the service manuals linked to the support page are relevant to your notebook's model series.

You may want to bring that issue to the HP executive team at the link below so they can get that corrected.
