Hi,

I have a 17t-by200 and would like to increase:

1) the RAM from 12GB to 32

2) the SSD from 256GB to 1TB

I would like to know the maximum speed for each of the above. What’s the GENERATION? 3 or 4?

Thank you.

Here's you Service Manual- http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c08119882.pdf  In it it states 16Gb limit but they fudge on that, saving higher ram limits for their busnisess or gaming laptops. Follow the below to find out the limit for your laptop,

You can go here https://www.crucial.com/store/crucial-advisor-trust and look up compatible ram for your laptop.

Alternatively, Windows users can determine the maximum RAM cr Service Manual is here-apacity in the Command prompt (Run as Administer) with the command here- "wmic memphysical get MaxCapacityEX" without the quotes and divide the value by 1024 That will give you the total amount supported by your laptop.

Be advised that HP likes memory with relaxed timings, like the vanilla Crucial modules, or Samsung, SK Hynix modules work well. Don't buy any modules labeled as Performance ram, as there are no XMP profiles in bios to change timings.

And as for your PCI m2. it supports gen3x4
