The local providers cannot guarantee that a Kingston A400 - SSD - 960 GB will work on a HP 15T-DA200 (7CE68AV). Is there a way to make sure?

Hi:

If your notebook currently has a 2.5" mechanical hard drive, I don't see any reason why the Kingston A400 - SSD - 960 GB wouldn't work.

Amazon.com: Kingston 960GB A400 SATA3 2.5" Internal SSD SA400S37/960G - HDD Replacement for Increase...

However, if your notebook has an Intel Core processor, it also has a M.2 slot that supports the much faster performing M.2 2280 SSD's.

You can either remove the 2.5" mechanical hard drive or use it for storage.

See chapter 1 of the service manual on your notebook's support page for the supported drive types.

The 2.5" bay is currently empty and don't have the possibility of a test install. Based on your answer I feel inclined to make the purchase hoping that odds are on my favor

Do you have the required SATA cable and mounting brackets you need to connect to the drive?

If your notebook already came with a M.2 NVMe SSD, usually HP does not include those items.

The Kingston A400 - SSD - 960 GB form factor comes as a SATA interface unit so it will be just a matter of connect/detect.

Sorry, I thought that model needed a ribbon cable like most of them do.

I see in chapter 6 on page 45 of the manual, the drive directly connects to SATA connector on the motherboard.

Thanks for your time Paul. Give me a couple of days to let you know how it went.

You're very welcome.

Upon opening the laptop we discovered that the SATA interface is no included within. If possible please help me on identifying the parts that we need to purchase to be able to install the disk

Hi:

Chapter 3 page 27 lists the parts you need:

Hard drive bracket                                 L20455-001

Hard drive connector board                L20454-001

Hard drive/solid-state drive cable     L20456-001

You may have a very difficult time finding those parts and the screws you need to attach the connector board to the motherboard.

If the notebook came with a M.2 NVMe SSD, I think it would be a lot better and easier to just install a larger capacity NVMe SSD.
