The space where the SATA port should be within the laptop only has the card, empty pin holes but no interface to connect the disk to

I understand what you're saying, Paul. I am having trouble even finding an authorized local distributor, finding the parts looks very hopeless. Do you have any advice on how could I clone the current NVMe that holds OS, licences, etc, into a larger one? I would no like to deal with reinstalling everything if possible.

Hi:

If you buy a Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro) NVMe SSD, you can use their cloning software to clone the existing drive's contents to the new drive.

Amazon.com: SAMSUNG 980 SSD 1TB PCle 3.0x4, NVMe M.2 2280, Internal Solid State Drive, Storage for P...

You will also need to purchase a USB3/USB-C to NVMe adapter to install the new SSD into, so you can clone the contents of the original hard drive to it.

Something like this:

Amazon.com: SSK Aluminum M.2 NVME SATA SSD Enclosure Adapter, USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) to NVME PCI-E ...

The other thing you can do is to use the HP cloud recovery tool which will make a bootable USB recovery drive that you can use to reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the new SSD.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility:

Will the Kingston NV2 - SSD - 1 TB     M.2 2280    work?

HP Recommended

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't, but you would have to find some different cloning software to use, or use the HP cloud recovery tool.

No doubt the Samsung cloning software will only work if it is cloning to or from a Samsung drive.

We are right now cloning the disk using the tool in Hirens Boot :  Lazesoft Disk Image & Clone

We´ll replace the disk and make sure everything is normal or return the original if not

Glad to report that we were able to clone and install the new disk and is working normally. We only got an issue on the Office 2019 licensing that will be solved next Monday .

Really appreciate your attention and help Paul.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance and thanks for letting us know that you were able to install a larger capacity NVMe SSD in your notebook.

Cheers,

Paul
