HP OmniBook Ultra 14 inch Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-fd0000 (9J387AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there,

These are just general questions about the laptop (HP Omnibook Ultra 14). I've been very happy with it since I got it, although it wasn't without an issue. That issue was installing AMD's Adrenaline software. Normally this is something I always install first on AMD based devices, but for some reason it just doesn't want to work with this laptop causing stuttering and freezing. It was clearly clashing with the AMD drivers that the laptop automatically updates and I couldn't figure out a solution other than to remove the Adrenaline software altogether. Is that an issue others have had? Is it possible to get it to work? Or was I doing something wrong?

The second question is about an external GPU. This laptop has 2 Thunderbolt ports, so in theory it can use an external gpu? Has anyone tried? Is it compatible? I feel like experimenting with it...

Thanks in advance.

@Benjy135SP2, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I'm glad to hear that you are mostly satisfied with your HP OmniBook Ultra 14 inch Laptop Next Gen AI PC. However, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with AMD's Adrenaline software. The issue you're encountering might be due to compatibility problems with the specific drivers used in the HP OmniBook Ultra 14 laptop.

Driver Update: Ensure that all your drivers, particularly the AMD graphics drivers, are up to date. You can do this via Windows Update or by visiting the HP Support site to check for the latest drivers specific to your model.

Software Version: Make sure you are installing the version of AMD Adrenaline that is compatible with your system’s hardware and operating system version.

Driver Confliction: Sometimes, OEM-configured drivers might not work well with third-party software if a specific integration is not supported. It might be helpful to uninstall the Adrenaline software, use a DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely remove all traces of older drivers, and then reinstall the drivers from HP's support page.

The USB-C port on your unit supports charging, data transfer, and DisplayPort functionality, as outlined in the manual.
