HP Envy M6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

It doesn't appear to be overheating, because there was one instance where it restarted about 45 seconds after I turned it on. It has restarted 4 times over the last week: November 29, 30, December 1 and December 4. I've saed the dump files each time and they all look the same.

I have two dump files I have saved to my Google Drive.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1E4pRXlIqod0SMs8o2yVxlKrb128btnFK

The error that keeps coming up is "WIN8_DRIVER_ERROR" but I've checked several times and all my drivers appear to be up to date.

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉

It looks like you were interacting with @MKazi, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

Re-start the system and keep tapping F2, run a complete system test and that would tell you whether there are any hardware failure's.

Please let me know the results of the test to proceed further. 🙂

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that you have an  HP Envy M6 series laptop and it randomly restarts. There is a "WIN8_DRIVER_ERROR". Not to worry, I'll do my best to assist you with this case.

To assist you better, I would like to know the following information:

  • Please let me know the exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
  • Did any software changes or updates take place on the laptop post which this issue may have started?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Please perform a Microsoft System Restore to rollback the laptop to an earlier date when it worked fine. This will not delete your data.

If the issue persists port the Microsoft System Restore then let us perform a Microsoft Push Button Reset. This repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This can be done either while preserving your personal data and customizations, or removing all your personal data.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. All the best! 🙂

My model number is m6-p113dx. I have not made any major software changes other than installing recommended updates. THrough my dump files can you pinpoint the exact hardware that's failing?

I do have Steam and play PC games frequently on it. I have stopped this since the computer started randomly restarting and it has restarted unexpectely only twice in the last week.

I ran the test and everything passed. It must not be a serious problem, but the lack of a blue screen and the unexpected restarts means something is wrong. I saved the Test Logs, once to the root folder and one to some folder called EFI, and now I can't find them.

Thanks for replying. I truly appreciate your efforts.

Let me know if you performed the Microsoft Push Button Reset.

Cheers!
