HP Pavilion Notebook - 17z-g100 CTO (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Microsoft update using 20H2 got 84% completed when a popup appeared:

"HP Pavilion Notebook - BIOS needs to be upgraded before you can upgrade to next version of Windows"

"Uninstall this App now cause not compatible with Windows 10"

I clicked the button "manually uninstall"

My notes get fuzzy at this point. They say go Start, Settings, apps, apps&features. Also "I clicked quit setup".

Also "14% screen 20H2"

This 17 inch HP Pavilion Notebook with Windows 10, AMD A10-8700,  Model 17-g100 (or 17z-g100) has a product ID k8z00AV, aka "M7EO1AV" was powered up 7 years ago one time. Yesterday I turned on and connected to the Internet and downloaded Firefox browser. Unbeknownst to me, more than 3 hours the machine was installing 7 years of patches.

Saw an error message of a missing DLL for C++ (do not remember what I was doing) then proceeded to get VCRUNTIME140.DLL into my machine.

I also saw AVAST VPN had installed (via a web page I visited looking for that DLL program?)  so I removed the application, same for McAfee which came with the machine but I never opted in.

Is 20H2 an update to Windows 11? If so, I don't want it, but the BIOS update sounds important. Using HP Assistant, no BIOS upgrades are available, yet there is a https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06456250  as explained on HP's page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06456250

There are many pages of HP security patches but I do not want to compound problems while awaiting the BIOS resolution.

Fn+Esc shows my BIOS is F.13 - 08/06/2015

Processor AMD A10-8700P (advanced screen says 10.0.10240 )

Update - NOW mypage shows there IS a BIOS update available. Lots of patches for other things too. My orig question was not wrong at the time, but now I can try to download the bios update first. Please wait till I screw things up before investing any time on the original question. Thank you.
