I want to know if a battery for 255 G6 can be used in the 255 G5.

No, they are not the same batteries.

For the G5 part number 807957-001

Example

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=807957-001&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

for the G6 part number 919701-850

Example

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=919701-850&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

 

So, they are not the same battery
