Hi, 

 

The 2 usb ports on the left side of the laptop are not working (power cable side), the other one on the card reader side is working ok..i have tried a fresh install of win 10 and its still the same..is it a hardware or software issue maybe..i have tested the ports with the HP tester (photo enc of error). It shows an error code .

It the notebook still in warranty?

 

That is a hardware failure on the  USB ports which are part of the system board.

out of warranty i'm afraid,

 

would anyone on here know what component on the board to look for as a replacement  to make the ports work again, a bit technical i know but..maybe a cap has gone bad.!!
