I have installed 2x8 GB DDR3L RAM on my laptop and it says about "DDR3 Memory Type Not Supported" at powerup.

Right now I can work on it but do not think it is OK. I was thinking it works fine with DDR3L RAM modules. Can I help it with any settings or should I go back to the previous module?

Thanks for your help.

You're very welcome.

They must have mislabeled the memory.

I suggest you contact Corsair and explain the problem and see if they will send you the right memory you paid for.

It was their mistake, not yours.

I don't think it is a good idea to run the higher voltage memory in your notebook.

It may run too hot and at a minimum, it will put more strain on the battery.

Hi:

Chapter 1, page 3 of the service manual indicates that 2 x 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory is supported, so I don't know why you would be getting that message.

Are you sure you bought DDR3L (1.35V) memory and not DDR3 (1.5V) memory?

Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below.

Close out of the summary report window and click on the memory info on the left side of the window.

If the memory is truly DDR3L memory, the report will show two voltages...1.5V, and 1.35V because DDR3L memory also has to run at 1.5V to meet the DDR3 standard.

If the report only shows 1.5V, then you have installed DDR3 memory which is not supported.

See my screenshot of the memory report provided by the HWINFO utility I attached...

Hello, Thanks, it is very kind of you.

Well, I have purchased the modules as 2x8 GB Corsair Value Select DDR3L modules, HWINFO32 shows something else..

It shows DDR3 module with 1.5 V..

Can I run these safely or I should change it?
