I recently got a 32gb Ram kit (16gb x2) 'Crucial' DDR4 2666MHz, my HP Omen came with a stock 8gb RAM which i replaced with 32gb.
Now first of all, i didnt feel much difference in the speed, as i run music editing softwares (DAW), and i saw no difference when i tried gettingbthe latency down. I thought 32gb would make a huge difference in the overall perfirmance but it didnt.
2nd question, when i shut down my laptop, the windows shut down, but the system still stays on for quite a long time, the keyboard and power button are lit and screen is dark, and stays like that for atleast a few minutes till it shuts down.
Did i make a mistake going from 8gb to 32gb ??

When you shut down do you have the system set to hibernate? If so, it now has to account for 4x as much memory in the hibernation file so that will slow the process down a lot. As far as performance gain, chances are if the software is not coded to specifically take advantage of that much memory it might be using the same amount as before. If that is the case then you will not see a performance gain for that application but would see gains when trying to open multiple programs. Chances are if you currently have one ssd drive and one standard drive you would have gotten better performance gains by upgrading your spinning drive to an SSD.

Thank you for such a quick reply and a detailed message.
I dont think i have set my computer to hibernate, i just click Shut Down from the windows menu, the screen goes off, but the keyboard lights stay on.
And the softwares, its not justbthe music softwares, but other applications like games etc. I havent seen much improvement.
My laptop's got a 1tb hard drive, and an SSD the memory of which am not sure about.
