HP Spectre 13-ac000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I was wondering if HP plans on supporting 3rd party USB C charging on the HP Spectre 13. It seems to be artificially restricted by software, as I can charge my computer when it is fully powered off, but when it is turned on it rejects a third party charger. This seems a bit unfair, especially since other brands like apple allow third party USB C charging on their laptops.

Last time I asked this, a fourm moderator deleted it instantly, which seems really unfair. I'm just a user who wants HP to listen to customer feedback and expand the functionality of their products with a simple BIOS patch.

In my opinion 3rd party AC support NO.

IBM/Lenovo, Dell, Acer, Sony and others are all starting to use the same technology.

They are SMART AC adapters.

The pin in the center indicates a SMART AC.

I should have clarified, I  am talking about charging over USB C - which is the only method of charging this laptop. USB C is supposed to be a universal standard for power and data delivery, but HP seems to be restricting power to only their adapter, which defeats the port's original purpose.  Other manufactureres are not doing this.
