I have been using an Anker 100W charger for my HP Spectre for months and it's been working great. Suddenly, it's no longer working; the light does not turn on and it is not recognized. The charger still charges my phone and I got a replacement Anker charger and it does not work.
Bizarrely, I pluged the Anker into a dock and the dock into the laptop and that DOES work. I've tried updating my computer, holding the power button for 30 seconds when it is off and unplugged, and running diagnostic tests. I've tried uninstalling hardware devices and that doesn't work either. Please help!
UPDATE: Some older USB A to USB C chargers work but only when the laptop is shutdown. How does that make sense?

Tried to get support from the phone #. The people are incredibly unhelpful and rude. Eventually hung up when I refused to let them blind transfer me to the automated dead end tech support line for the 4th time

Your description of the issue sounds like failing electronic components to me.
Had you considered checking to ensure that the BIOS is updated to the latest version?

Which year version of the x360 13-apxxx is yours?

I have the same laptop and bought it in the same time frame.
You could try the Device Manager method of deleting the Battery Control Method driver to see if that will resolve the issue.
Once you delete the driver and right click anywhere and select "scan for hardware changes", a fresh copy of the driver will be installed by the OS.

I tried that. I spoke with James, a "Consumer Escalations Manager" who admitted that HP blocks certain third party devices for "safety" and offered to sell me an HP charger. He then hung up when I refused that offer. My next laptop will likely not be an HP.
