So I just got a HP Laptop for two uses. One for me and my photography and the other for my son and his homeschool. I bought a 8gen/4gb/16gb Intel and 1TB... I was looking at the 8gb and wanting that because I figured it would suit us better. Yet I was sold the 4gb. Should I go back and get the 8 or is the 4 perfectly fine? What is the biggest difference. Or can this computer hold everything I will need it for. Thank you for all your help

There are thousands of models/products called laptops/notebooks. What is yours ? Without knowing what it is, my answer is just a guessing game from you supplied information: 8gen/4gb/16gb Intel and 1TB
8gen: it has Intel Gen 8 processor,
4gb: it has 4GB of RAM
16gb: it has Optane 16GB
1TB: its HDD is 1TB.
your question is 4gb vs 8gb: Yes, you can upgrade to 8GB. 4GB is a little bit slim. 8GB runs faster specially during loading applications.

How long is a piece of string. It may be ok for you today, but your son will be screaming for more juice tomorrow. I need to know what is it.
Regards.
