I have an old HP 5000dv laptop that is still functional but has xp as an operating system.
After buying a new windows 7 operating system and a Kingston SSD, I realized that the connection from the analog HD is different than the SSD connections.
Is there an adaptor to make this conversion or do I have another boat anchor?
Thanks!

Hi,
The SSD is not going to work in your system as you need an IDE drive and there will be no adapter which will fit and it would not be worthwile using an ssd in such a system where the motherboard does not have the correct controllers.
You could use the SSD in a newer computer which has a mechanical drive which would greatly increase the performance of the PC. Or as not to become an anchor you could use in an external housing as a fast external USB drive.
Hope it helps,
David
