From the Service Manual p. 1 this is a dealbreaker for the APU (processor) upgrade (sorry):
Processors: Processors are attached to the system board.
See p. 78. On some models there is a SATA-3 M.2 slot on the backside of the system board. There is no specification on which models have this (other than some AMD and some Intel models) so the only way to tell is to get in there and look which is a big effort for what may turn out to be nothing.
Youc an replace the mechanical hard drive with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD 7mm thick such as the Samsung Evo 850.
If you did upgrade to an SSD you would think you had upgraded the processor by several notches. There is no better single computer upgrade than an SSD for increasing general performance, making the machine much more pleasurable to use.
