Hi. I was away for a month and when I came back and started up the computer I got the 601 battery alert message. Ive tried updating BIOS and I did the battery test in diagnostic hardware. The component test says FAILED. Battery is 3 years old and battery detail says Charge capacity is 15 %, Battery status: replace and Charge state: Blown fuse. What can I do? Replacing battery the only option?

Three year old battery in a consumer machine (any consumer model notebook) is a candidate for replacement even were it not showing a failure message.
So, yes - it is time to replace the battery.
Generally, the procedure is not difficult and replacement can be done for the cost of the battery.
