Hi
I have been searching for a while now on where to purchase and how to install a second battery for my hp elitebook 8540p. I go to school and do not wish to lug around the power cord every day. I have seen external battery packs online which would be just as bulky as the power brick. is there a way to install the second battery without comprimising overall width too much?
Thanks

Unfortunately from what I read the part listed is the same as the primary battery, I was looking for an additional battery that can be connected in conjunction with the primary battery. Is this possible? This secondary battery would occupy the battery #2 space shown when you click on the battery life meter in windows

We cannot place both Batteries at a time as there is no slot available in the Notebook
You have to carry the second battery with you always, so you can put that in when the other battery dies provided
you have fully charged your second battery

Dear KNRK,
The travel battery you referenced looks like a good solution, but if I remember the specs correctly, (and at my age that can never be taken for granted) it is another 8 cell battery that connects to the bottom of the laptop. I have read about an "Ultra High Capacity" 12 cell 95 Whr battery which also connects to the bottom. I would really like to get one of these. If I understand what I'm reading, in a low battery situation, I can leave the main battery installed, pull the UHC batt off of the bottom and plug the power cord into it directly! Being an old Thinkpad guy, this is a genius solution. There is also an aftermarket external charger that the main battery can be plugged into. Unless I got this all wrong, HP created a solution where the power supply never has to be plugged into the laptop. This is important to me as my wife (the writer) has broken off every DC input plug she has ever met! (she just left the room so I can get away with saying that). Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

Hello
In the following text will be mistakes because English is not my first language (translation).
I am looking for additional battery for my HP 8540w.
The HP EliteBook 8540w Mobile Workstation Maintenance and Service Guide Page 19
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c03382696-1
the link component 2 and 5. indicated slot where frequently deeply interesting hook Accessory battery connector.
In the above-umieszonych I replied deduced that the 8540w is not possible buckles additional battery independently from the basic (592078-001 and 493976-001).
In addition, Product description

You indicate that there is the opportunity to join another battery of the slot and provides the above clearly have entered
Battery Primary battery:
• HP 8-cell 73 WHr Li-Ion Primary Battery
• The HP Long Life 8-cell 68 WHr Li-Ion Primary Battery
Optional secondary battery
• HP Extended Life Battery (8-cell 52 WHr)
• HP Ultra-Capacity Battery (12-cell 95 WHr)
Please precise information or 8540w model can work on two batteries in parallel, because 2 hours of battery life is enough for me.
The forums and on your side, I found the following product
