I want to increase the RAM of my HP 2000 laptop from 4gb to 8gb.

Is the laptop compatible???

Yes it will run 2 x 4 gig DDR3-1600

Yes it will run 2 x 4 gig DDR3-1600

Can I keep the existing RAM and install the mentioned RAM in the second slot. Or do I have to replace with 2 new modules

Not sure if you have 2 + 2 = 4 or a single 4 gig. If a single 4 gig you have an open slot and can just add this. If you have 2 + 2 you have to discard that memory and get 2 of these if you want 8 gigs.
