90B error after BIOS update, vent clean

I updated the BIOS on my x360 because HP said the update was available, and now I get a 90B error at startup. I'm not entirely sure if the fan itself is running, though a program meant to monitor the fan speed and temperature (which isn't picking up the fan's existence) is claiming that I'm hovering around 42-45C, including cooling off from 45 to 43C, as though the fan were running. It's always been a quiet fan for me unless I was, for example, running a video game, so I'm not sure if the 90B is an error, or updating my BIOS killed my fan, or if maybe the previous BIOS was just stupid and wasn't throwing the code it needed to be throwing. 

Looking things up, I'm not really seeing anything quite like this, other than the occasional, "Don't upgrade your BIOS unless necessary as it can cause problems," even if those problems don't actually get mentioned. 

My laptop was behaving pretty perfectly until this, only occasionally being a little slow. Please help.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting a system fan error 90B on startup.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Clean dust or debris from vents and fans.
   • For notebook computers, go to HP Notebook PCs - Reducing Heat Inside the Laptop to Prevent Overheating.
2. Update the BIOS to the latest version.

Go to HP PCs - 900, 909, 90B, 90F Error Appears on a Black Screen  for further assistance.

1. As I stated in the title, the vents and such are clean. 

2. As I stated in the title and first line of the post, I had updated the BIOS right before this problem occurred. 

3. I opened up the back of the laptop (as much as I could, anyway--made difficult by one of the screws being replaced by a fused plastic peg during manufacture) and checked things out. Everything was clean. Nothing was impeding the fan. Since I gave the fan a few spins to make sure it could still move, the 90B has since cleared up, at least for the moment. I'm now more concerned about the fact that it would seem like some of the HP products on the market aren't designed to be popped open for maintenance and have had a screw replaced with something that would have to be broken in order to actually open things up. None of that explains, however, why updating the BIOS seemed to make my pc forget how to turn on it's fan temporarily.

I am glad to know that the issue is resolved.

Usually, the error 90B is caused when the fan is not working correctly and the BIOS has nothing to do with it.
