My hp pavilion x360 shell cracked on the top cover by the hinge so whenever it is moved up and down the crack deepens. I've looked online for a new top cover but there aren't any options for my model. I even looked for covers to put on the computer for extra support because I super glued the crack but it's slowly reopening. Do you know where I can find a new top cover for my computer or if HP's support can help? I went to the store and they said there is no guarantee they can fix it and that it would cost 50 just to send it and about a hundred more to maybe fix it if they can.

I am sorry this happened.

Opinion Only

This is likely more than just a cracked top-cover.

The hinge assembly might be involved - and in fact, it is likely that the damage you can see is only part of the extent of the injury.

If that is the case,

The computer can be fixed - depending on the severity of the damage, the repair can be expensive.

Full on Display, Case, and Hinge assembly is not an easy repair.

You need an experienced repair technician.

What to do?

You can certainly consider having your local shop complete the repairs.  Were it me, I would definitely want more assurance than a vague statement of possible charges and "if they can fix it".  This is not enough information.  Be cautious.

That said, and understanding that HP Technical Support is very busy (wait times are long),

You can submit a case to HP Support.

Personal Opinion

Mention in your case explanation that you are willing to pay for the repair depending on the cost - saying this does not bind your actions nor does it bind HP's decision - it may help you "get through the door" with an Out-of-Warranty claim.

If HP accepts the case, if you and HP agree on other details, then HP will provide the labor and parts necessary to repair the computer.  That just means that HP won't glue the top together and send it home.

What is it worth?  It will be OK - not easy, maybe - but this, too, shall pass...

Be sure to measure the age and cost of the computer against what might be necessary to have the computer repaired.  For example consider the possible costs, the amount of time it can take to repair the computer (how long it will be out of your hands), and the level of anxiety involved.  This is not meant to scare you - these are just some things to keep in mind while you make decisions.

For the moment, if you can open the computer, sit it down where you can leave it, resist opening/closing and carrying it around, the damage will be less than it will be if you continue to treat it as if everything is OK.

Good Luck.
