If changing the layout didn’t work, the issue is likely keyboard driver or registry settings. Try these steps:
- Open Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right-click your ABNT2 keyboard, and choose Uninstall device. Then restart your laptop; Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
- Make sure no third-party keyboard software is overriding the layout.
- Check Advanced keyboard settings: go to Settings → Time & Language → Typing → Advanced keyboard settings and set the input method to Portuguese (Brazil) – ABNT2 for all apps.
- Use a keyboard tester online to confirm that all keys are registering correctly and that the layout matches ABNT2.
This usually resolves persistent ABNT2 layout issues.

Hey,
This usually happens when Windows is using the wrong keyboard layout. Go to Settings → Time & Language → Language & Keyboard and make sure Portuguese (Brazil) ABNT2 is selected as the input method. Remove any other layouts, then restart your laptop

Uninstalling the keyboard driver and restarting fixed the ABNT2 layout issue. I also tested all keys using this keyboard tester https://testeteclado.com.br/ and all keys are working correctly now.
Thanks for the help.
