Hello to everybody

This afternoon I realized that my laptop wasn't charging anymore and I don't know what might be the issue. If the AC adapter, the "jack" where I insert my adapter chord or the battery. I tried to do the AC Adapter from the "Hardware Diagnostics UEFI" but It will tell me to take off the chord, wait 10 seconds and reinsert it in a loop. It doesn't fail, it doesn't succeed neither.

When I insert the chord in the laptop the lights is white if the laptop is ON. It's orange if the laptop is OFF. When the laptop is ON however it doesn't show that it is charging.

Another think I tried to do is that If I take off the battery when the laptop is ON it will let me work with the adapter connected, but If the laptop is OFF I can't turn it on. So I think that the battery is gone, but why would it show the right percentage?

I don't have a multimeter to check if the adapter is showing the 19 volts correctly and I don't know if it might even be a "jack" problem.

Let me know

---EDIT--

I managed to do the Power test from UEFI and it showed that the battery was ok and the ac had the fault with this error code: QCW7H0-8QMA34-XD7URF-C1AL03

Does It mean that I need to change the adapter or it still might be the power jack?

Hello @Joellao,

This just seems to be a case of an under-powered/faulty AC adapter. That's at least what the Failure ID also indicates as it reports back an AC Adapter error.

You should be able to purchase a replacement AC adapter at a relatively cheap price. I don't think there should be a problem with the power cord (the part that connects to the wall socket).

Could you please post your laptop specifications so I can figure out exactly which AC adapter you need to purchase? I need specifically the graphics (UMA/Discrete) and the CPU.

Or, you could just check the part number on the AC adapter. It should be in the format HP P/N xxxxxx-xxx where an x is a number.

Kind regards,

Eddy

Hi,

thanks for the reply. So I have two numbers in my AC Adapter.

  • HP Part N0: 854054-002
  • Replace with HP Spare: 741727-001

The Serial number of the laptop is: [edit]

Thanks again.
