Upgrading a Envy 17m-cg1013dx with Windows 11 Home edition from the factory 12GB of RAM (one stick of 4GB and another of 8GB) to 32GB. I am using two Crucial 16GB sticks, DDR4-3200, SODIMM, 1.2V, CL22. According to the HP manual and Crucial's website, this memory is compatible.
Once I change out the RAM, the laptop will boot up with no issues, but the factory AC adapter (65W) will no longer work. The small light next to the port does not light up. The system information on the laptop does show that there is 32GB of RAM installed. The laptop works great, only with the battery. I have tried reinstalling the factory RAM back, and the AC adapter works fine just as before. I have also tried uninstalling the battery and placing the new RAM and start the laptop with the AC Adapter plugged in without the battery, but the laptop won't turn on.
The BIOS is up to date per HP's support driver page for this unit.
For some reason the new RAM makes the laptop not be able to use the AC adapter. Any ideas?
